How to find us

The airport is located 20km away from the hostel and easily accessible via public transport 

The airport bus is number 60 from stop number 5 located outside the Airport. It costs €2.30 one way and takes around 25 minutes. Remember to get off at "San Telmo" 

From here it is a short walk through Triana town centre to the hostel.

A Taxi from the airport costs around €25-30 and will take about 20 minutes.

How do I cancel, change/ammend my booking?

If you need to cancel or ammend a booking please get it touch directly with the hostel as soon as possible for a memeber of our team to arrange this for you. Please read our cancellations policy for changes and cancellations for groups and individuals.

What's your cancellation and refund policy?

The customer may cancel or ammend the booking without charge if notice is given to Columbus at least 24 hours prior to 1400 hours (local time) on the Arrival Date. In which case Columbus will refund to the Customer all sums paid by the Customer in advance. Group bookings (10+ people are subject to a different agreement below.) Group bookings (10+ people) are required to make full payment of the complete duration of the stay within 1 week from when the reservation is made. Failure to do this will result in the booking being cancelled. If cancelled it is possible to reserve again if there has been a problem with payment but it isn't possible for Columbus to hold reservation space for more than 1 week unpaid. Group bookings (10+ people) ammendments, cancellations and refunds can be done free of charge if Columbus has been notfied at least 1 week prior to the arrival date. Ammendments and cancellations will be possible when made after this time period but the original booking will remain payable in full. Where the Customer fails to give sufficient notice of cancellation or fails to arrive (no show) at the Hostel, the entire Booking will be deemed cancelled and the Customer must pay the Hostel an amount equivalent to the Charges applicable to the first’ night’s stay at the Hostel. Group bookings (10+ people) are subject to a different clause. Please see above. Columbus may at any time cancel a Booking if the Hostel becomes unavailable due to circumstances outside Columbus' control in which case Columbus will pay the Customer a full refund of any Charges and any booking fee paid. Columbus may at any time cancel the Booking if the payment details provided by the Customer are invalid and the Customer fails to provide alternative valid details.

Can I change/ammend my booking?

Yes it is possible to make changes to your booking for free as long as it is 24 hours before you are due to check in. Please refer to our cancellations policy for further information. To make any changes please get in touch with us through our contact form and we will be able to make ammendments to your booking through there. Changes and ammendments to group bookings (10+ People). Please refer to group bookings FAQ.

Do you offer discounts, long stays, promotions?

If we have any current offers/promotions these can he seen on our home page. We do offer discounts to guests that are staying with us for longer periods of time. 15% off the current room rate will be discounted in house on your arrival. For discount to be offered the stay has to be 28 consecutive days or more. Please reserve your stay through our book now page we will arrange your discount on arrival.

Can I pay for my room using card or cash?

We don't currenty accept credit/debit cards. Payment can be made on arrival in cash at check in. (Currency type EUR)

I haven't received a booking confirmation. What should I do?

Email booking confirmations are automatically generated through our booking calendar when you make a booking.

If you haven’t received this confirmation it is likely that you have entered the wrong email address or our email has got lost in your junk folder of your email.

If you haven't received it or you have entered the wrong dates by mistake its not a problem please just get in touch and we will be able to amend and resend out confirmations through there.

How can I do a group booking?

If you are looking to make a reservation for 10+ people please make an enquiry through our group bookings page to directly get in touch with your personal group coordinator. Bookings of less than 10 people can easily be recerved through our fast book reservations calendar.

Will all my friends be in the same room as me?

We will always try our best to keep all your friends together in one room. If it is important for you to all be together in the same room please be sure to check with our team to ensure all the bookings are grouped and assigned to a single room.

Can under 18s stay in the hostel?

Yes, but they'll need to be accompanied by an adult and stay in a private room. If an adult is not present then you must present a completed parental consent form along with a valid copy of the signing parent's ID in order to stay in a private room. Additionally, guests under 18 can only stay in our dorms if they are part of a group that has booked out the entire dorm room and each member has the required documentation outlined above.

How long can I stay at the hostel for?

It all depends on availability. Its likely that the hostel will be fully booked through certain periods and it wont let you reserve for a long time on our reservations calendar.

If you do want to stay for an extended period please get in touch as there can be cancellations, room changes and other arrangements that we can make to help suit your needs.

What time is check in and check out?

Check in time is from 14:00 Check out time is before 11:00 It is possible to check in to the hostel before 14:00 and make yourself at home and use all the facilities. 14: 00 is the time that the rooms/beds are ready. If you arrive early please ask a member of staff if your room/bed is ready, its likely that we will be able to get you settled in right away. Check out time is before 11:00 and you have to leave your room before then. You can still use all hostel facilities up until 23:00 the same day.

How do I check out in the middle of the night?

Please let us know on the last night of your stay if you will be leaving in the early hours of the morning. A simple key drop at reception is all that is needed. For further transport reservations please speak with a member of our team at reception a couple of days prior to your departure.

Can I arrive in the middle of the night?

Yes, it is possible to check in at anytime. Please be aware that there is a 5 EUR late check in charge for check ins after 23:00. Please also get in touch with the hostel if you will be arriving late for any reason as we will have to give you our contact number to arrange your time of check in with a member of our team.

Can I store my luggage before and after check in?

Yes there are lockers in every room big enough to store a full size rucksack along with a built in shelf for laptops, cameras etc.

Lockers require a small padlock. Please bring your own, if not we have them available to be purchased behind reception.

Check out

On check out you can leave your bags with us free of charge for the day. Please see a member of staff in order for your bag to tagged and stored.

Please mention to a member of our team if you have high value items such as laptops and camera equipment and these can be stored behind reception.

Does the hostel have disabled access?

Unfortunately no. The building the hostel in located in is over 100 years old in a heavy conservation area. The hostel is spaced over 3 floors and the building regulations have not allowed for a lift to be installed.

Can you gain access to the hostel at night?

Our hostel is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

How do I contact the hostel?

Can I check out of the hostel late?

Check out time is before 11:00 and you have to leave your room before then. You can still use all hostel facilities up until 23:00 the same day.

How long can I store my bags for?

During your stay you will have your own locker and when you check out we'll look after your bags. If you need to store your belongings further it's best to speak to us directly for further arrangements.

How do I get to the hostel from the airport/bus station/car?


The airport is located 20km away from the hostel and easily accessible via public transport.

Remember to get off at "San Telmo bus station"

From here it is a 10 minute walk through Triana town centre to the hostel.

Easy way is to ask locals where “Casa Colon” is and you will be on “Calle Reyes Catolicos.”

Airport transfers

A Taxi from the airport costs around €30 – 35 and will take about 20 minutes.


We don’t have parking on site but the roads next to the hostel are free to park on.

Please ensure that you are not parked on any white/blue/yellow lines as Spain can be strict on local parking laws.

Please do not park directly outside of the hostel it is a pedestrian only street and it is possible to get fined.

If you struggle to find parking there is secure parking nearby. (Around €6 per day)

Hostel Services

Are hair dryers available?

No unfortunately we don’t have hairdryers available but we do offer free towels. Please ask for multiple towels at reception if needed.

Are towels provided in all of your rooms free of charge?

Yes towels are provided free of charge in all of our rooms. If you need normal towels or beach towels please ask at reception and towels can be provided as you wish.

Does your hostel accept pets?

Sorry, you can't bring pets into our hostel. Guide dogs are more than welcome.

Can I get something delivered to the hostel?

Yes you can, but we recommend you let the hostel reception team know if you're expecting a delivery. We don't accept responsibility for lost or damaged packages.

Is all bed linen supplied?

Yes, we supply all your bedding. Extra blankets can be provided upon request.

Can I bring guests in who aren’t staying in the hostel?

Friends and family who live in the city or are staying at other hostels are more than welcome in the social areas but are not allowed to stay past 23:00.

Can I do laundry at the hostel?

Yes we have a laundry wash and dry service available priced at €5. Please ask a member of our team on reception.

Does the hostel have any events?

Yes of course. Events are what makes Columbus your home from home. Check out our Instagram feed for a taste of what events we have been running to see what you are likely to expect during your stay.

Events are posted in house on a board for all to see. Mostly free, but some with a small payment e.g. Family dinner nights.

Food & Drinks

Do you include breakfast with my stay?

Breakfast is not included or provided with your stay. We have fridges, dry food storage space and a full kitchen at your disposal for you to make your own breakfast.

Group bookings can organise breakfast as a separate package to there stay, please discuss this with your group booking co-ordinator.

Can I bring my own food and alcohol into the hostel?

Yes, please do. Our atmosphere is created by everybody coming together eating, drinking and chatting. The more the merrier.


How do I apply to work/volunteer at Columbus?

We are always seeking new volunteers at Columbus in many different areas. If you have experience in any of the following areas please contact us through here. State the following position you are interested in as your subject line

- Hostel work reception/ cleaning

- Construction/ woodwork/ decorating/ plumbing/ electrics

- Textiles
